ACCA Report: 64% of Accountants Find Ethical Dilemmas Increasingly Difficult to Resolve

Bengaluru – October 15, 2024: A new report from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) reveals that nearly two-thirds of accountants believe ethical dilemmas have become harder to resolve in the past three years. Based on responses from over 1,100 professionals worldwide, the report identifies leadership, AI, and sustainability as the top areas of concern. The rise in complexity is attributed to globalization, remote work, and evolving business expectations. ACCA India Director Md. Sajid Khan stresses the importance of ethical leadership and continuous development to navigate these challenges.

Key Findings:

  • 64% report increased difficulty in resolving ethical dilemmas.
  • 40% cite leadership and culture as the primary area of ethical challenge.
  • Remote work has reshaped how ethical issues are addressed.

This report underscores the growing need for organizations to strengthen ethical governance, address mental health, and enhance technology and sustainability practices as businesses face increasingly complex ethical environments.
