Overseas Uber Trips Show Indians Are Traveling Abroad Like Never Before

Bengaluru, July 10th 2024: Uber, the global ride-hailing app, has shared travel data of India-registered users, highlighting a significant rise in global travel trends among Indians. The data reveals a notable increase in the number of Indians using Uber abroad during 2023, second only to Americans. The summer travel season is expected to see Indians surpass previous travel records.

Key Insights:

  • Surge in Overseas Travel: Nearly a million Indians used Uber overseas in the past year, traveling to almost 1,000 cities across 68 countries.
  • Popular Destinations: Despite exploring more cities, Indians predominantly traveled to the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
  • Travel Seasons: Summer holidays are the most popular for Indian travelers, with May 2023 being the peak month for overseas travel, compared to June in 2022.

Travel Preferences and Trends:

  • Longer Distances: Indians traveled 25% longer distances in Ubers abroad compared to their trips in India.
  • Diverse Products: They tried 21 different Uber products across countries, including premium EVs like Comfort Electric, and Multimodal Transit options.
  • Luxury Rides: Indian travelers enjoyed a range of luxury vehicle rides, including Porsche Cayenne, Jaguar F PACE, Range Rover Sport, Mercedes S450, BMW 740i M Sport, and Lincoln Navigator.

Premium EVs Abroad:

Indians also experienced rides in premium electric vehicles such as:

  • Jaguar I PACE
  • Audi e-tron Sportback
  • Mercedes EQE 500
  • Ford F150 Lightning
