Chennai, May 28, 2025 – Schaeffler India Ltd. (BSE: 505790, NSE: SCHAEFFLER), a leading motion technology company, has inaugurated its fifth manufacturing plant in Shoolagiri, Tamil Nadu. This marks a major milestone in its India expansion strategy, focused on delivering advanced powertrain and chassis components, including hybrid and electric mobility technologies.
Built on a 108,000 sqm plot, the 16,500 sqm Phase 1 facility is expected to reach full ramp-up by Q4 2025. The plant will manufacture planetary gear systems and hybrid transmission components, catering to rising demand in the Indian automotive sector and aligning with Schaeffler’s global growth ambitions.
“In India’s rapidly evolving mobility landscape, this facility strengthens our ability to localize, innovate, and scale advanced technologies,” said Matthias Zink, CEO Powertrain & Chassis, Schaeffler AG.
Harsha Kadam, MD & CEO, Schaeffler India, added, “This expansion not only supports ‘Make in India’ but also prepares us for the transition to e-mobility while ensuring sustainable, future-ready operations.”
The Shoolagiri plant complements Schaeffler India’s four existing manufacturing sites and three R&D centers. Over the past three years, the company has invested ₹1,700 crore—above its initial commitment of ₹1,500 crore—to expand local capabilities, develop new product lines, and bolster its industrial and automotive portfolios.
Sustainability remains core to the new facility’s design, featuring rainwater harvesting, zero liquid discharge systems, LED lighting, and battery-powered equipment. The site is also built to foster inclusivity, safety, and digital-first operations.
This strategic addition underscores Schaeffler’s commitment to India as a key growth market and innovation hub in its global network.
